The pharmaceutical giant Pfizer said Monday it plans to sell a generic version of its drug Viagra for $2.50 a pill.
The drug, whose active ingredient is sildenafil, is a popular erectile dysfunction treatment that has been linked to an increased risk of strokes, heart attacks and blood clots.
Viagra is also approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs).
